Gretchen Cottrill, who is a stylist at Posh Salon in Lexington, says her sister-in-law is only 30-years-old and she has no family history of breast cancer so it took their family by surprise.

Cottrill says Alana is on her second round of chemo and has six more rounds to go and as many cancer patients know, with treatment meant the loss of her hair.

“I am kind of speechless how she’s been dealing with everything. Her positivity is absolutely amazing and I really look up to her for what she’s going through and she’s so positive. She’s up and working out still. She’s doing great,” Cottrill said.

Gretchen said Posh Salon is her second family and they jumped at the chance to help.

When she arrived at the salon Sunday morning there was a line of people waiting outside to show their support.

“The best statement that came out of Alana’s mouth was, “I think God put me in this position so that I could be an advocate for other women.” So that’s what she wants to do is, you know, if you have a gut feeling or if you feel a lump push for an exam, push for a mammogram, push for a biopsy,” Cottrill said.

Posh Salon offered a variety of services from facials to blowouts, all for the beauty of giving.

100% of the proceeds going towards Alana and her family.

If you would like to help the Cottrill family, they have a GoFundMe page set up for Alana and her family.
