LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation received an anonymous donation of $100,000 to establish a new endowment.

The foundation says the money will directly benefit the Oncology Palliative Care Program and Diabetes Care Program at CHI Saint Joseph Health.

“The endowment was named the ‘Brother Andre Fund,’ in recognition of the anonymous donor’s strong Catholic faith and desire to further our mission,” said Leslie Smart, CFRE, president, Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation. “With this generous gift, we can expand our services and provide an even higher quality of care in the Lexington community.”

The Brother Andre Fund will create education programs about palliative care for staff, terminally ill cancer patients and their loved ones.

The Fund will also enhance Type 1 diabetes education at CHI Saint Joseph Health by connecting staff, patients and their families with vital information about the disease.
