Last minute food shoppers on Thanksgiving Day

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Many people are spending Thanksgiving cooking, but it never fails that some families forget some ingredients.

Many shoppers were at Meijer in Hamburg in Lexington on Thursday picking up last minute items.

The store director says on Thanksgiving, the most popular items at checkout are butter, gravy, sweet potatoes and cream cheese.

Meijer stores combined usually sell around two million sweet potatoes during the holidays, according to the chain.
