LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – 55 million people are expected to travel this holiday weekend by plane, train, and cars according to AAA.
AAA says it expects about 50 million drivers to be on the road and is predicting that Wednesday will be the busiest day for travel.
It says drivers should expect delays especially if they’re going to a big city. If you’re traveling near the Midwest, you should be prepared for winter weather conditions.
AAA wants travelers on the road to think about people that are on the side of the road either working or assisting other drivers.
Tad Cobuluis works for AAA and spends time on the side of the road helping drivers who needs assistance.
He says he has to focus on fixing the problem he was called out to do, but he adds he can’t help but think about the drivers that travel fast right beside him.
“When you’re on the side of the road and you hear that tire running down that rumble strip, you know it’s coming and it’s close to you,” said Tad Cobuluis, Lead Fleet Driver for AAA.
AAA says if you see a car or a person on the side of the road you should move over a lane and slow down.
Kentucky State Police say they will have extra patrols on the road this weekend.
