Police: Man stole cruiser and led officers on two county chase

UPDATE: Man who shot at trooper arrested by KSP

POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police say a deputy fired shots at a man who stole his cruiser and led officers on a two county chase.

They say it began around 2:50 Wednesday morning in Powell County along the Mountain Parkway.

When a Powell County deputy spotted 38-year old Donald Lewis sitting in a stolen car.

When the deputy went to question Lewis, KSP says he got out of the vehicle, shoved the deputy and ran toward a pickup with someone in it.

When he tried to get into the pickup the deputy fired shots at the tires, according to detectives.

They say Lewis then jumped out, got into the deputy’s cruiser and took off.

According to police, the deputy fired at the cruiser hitting it.

Lewis continued into Montgomery County where officers were finally able to arrest him.
