LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Polls have just closed and supporters are starting to file in at Andy Beshear’s watch party in Louisville.
Beshear says his focus as governor will be the same as his focus as Attorney General fighting for Kentucky families.
Beshear says as Attorney General he fought for those with pre-existing conditions and stood up to Governor Bevin for teachers and their pensions. He also says he will fully fund public education and protect and expand access to affordable healthcare.
Beashear says while he has spent time in office fighting for people his opponent has spent his time in office bulling people.
“The fact that he can’t run on his record and instead has to get pictures standing next to somebody to try to win this race just shows how bad of a governor he’s really been,” said Beshear.
As far as funding the state’s ailing pension system Beshear is looking to casino gambling and medical marijuana which he estimates would generate up to $550 million in yearly state revenue.
Supporters waiting for results to come in from all across the state tell me they are certain Beshear will be the last man standing at the end of the night.
