LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Greg Stumbo is hoping to get back to the Attorney General’s office.
If he does win he will be among a long line of democrats who have held that office since 1947.
Stumbo has been taking on republican newcomer, Daniel Cameron and the two have been quick to criticize each other.
Stumbo’s biggest argument is that he has “years” of experience.
Stumbo has made it clear the opioid epidemic is one of his top priorities. In 2007 while he served as Attorney General he files a lawsuit against oxycotin maker Purdue Pharma and the case settled 24 million in 2015 after he left office.
He says there are still multiple lawsuits pending against drug manufacturers and distributors. He plans to see the cases through.
“I want to go back to Frankfort, lead the charge, and finish the battle I started,” said Stumbo.
Stumbo stated he will aggressively go after child predators saying, “We will show no mercy to those caught.”
Stumbo also wants to fight utility companies to keep utility rates low and reasonable.
