Outdoor warning sirens will be tested Wednesday


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Emergency Management will be testing their outdoor warning sirens Wednesday at 10 a.m.

The siren should sound like a series of chimes followed by a voice announcing “This is a test,” according to Lexington Emergency Management.

Lexington Emergency Management said there is no emergency and it will be sounded for testing purposes only. Do not contact 911 if about hearing the siren.

The Lexington Emergency Management team said the siren is designed to alert people who may be outdoors during an emergency and may not be heard indoors.

If there is inclement weather the test may be rescheduled, according to Lexington Emergency Management.
