HAZARD, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky Power said it has awarded a 300,000 dollar grant to Perry County to support bringing more jobs to the county.
The grant has been funded by the Kentucky Power Economic Development Growth Grants (K-PEGG) program and is expected to bring Dajcor Aluminum and several other jobs to the area, according to Kentucky Power.
Perry County held a groundbreaking ceremony Saturday for the Dajcor’s manufacturing plant and received the grant shortly beforehand, according to Perry County Judge Executive Scott Alexander.
The grant is expected to go toward the purchase of the former American Woodmark facility in the Coalfields Industrial Park and fund improvements before Dajcor moves into the building, according to Kentucky Power.
Kentucky Power is part of the American Electric power systems and provides electric service to about 165,000 customers in 20 eastern Kentucky counties.
