The department chooses a fifth grader for this honor every year in October.

Fifth graders were asked to write an essay about the importance of fire safety.

Abdul’s essay was chosen as the winner and for that he got a fire department uniform and was honored with his own official badge.

“I feel very proud and that I might get some fame,” said Abdul Alyafi.

Abdul has a full week of activities planned with the department including a tour of their facilities.
