Lexington priest removed from ministry after multiple allegations

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- A priest in charge of recruiting and training other priests for the Catholic Diocese of Lexington has been suspended after two adults made allegations of inappropriate contact, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.

The paper says Reverend Alan Carter, the vocations director there, and also a pastor at a church in Danville, will no longer exercise public ministry.

The Herald-Leaders says the first allegation dates back seven years ago, around the time Carter was ordained. The diocese says it found out about that allegation last month and removed Carter as the vocations director and made him get psychological treatment.

The second allegation prompted the diocese to suspend him from ministry, according to the paper.
