Chair of the Advisory Committee Julia Bennington said, “the mission of the advisory committee is to help promote safe, supportive and affirming environments for all students, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.”

Those who participated could run, walk, skip or stroll throughout the 3.1 miles.

“Oh its great we were expecting or we were hoping our goal was just to have 300 and our last count we had over 360 participants so we went over our goal for our first year. this was our first inaugural pride run, we hope to do it every year and so we’ve had a great turnout,” Bennington said.

The event proceeds will go towards providing resources, programming, gay-straight alliance development & maintenance, activities and training for students and employees throughout Fayette County Public Schools.
