Family of Lawrenceburg woman killed in 2012 crash wins lawsuit

A judge has ruled that Kentucky police coerced a man into allowing officers to search his car, leading to charges including violating a protective order by carrying a gun.

ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The family of a woman killed in 2012 has won their 3-million dollar lawsuit.

Marie Garmon, of Lawrenceburg was killed when her vehicle was hit by a dump truck on Versailles Road.

The driver of the truck, Eric Jenkins was sentenced to 6 years in 2014 after pleading guilty to manslaughter and DUI.

According to police Jenkins had taken lorab, valium and smoked marijuana before the crash.

The original charge against Jenkins was for murder, but he was able to reduce that sentence in exchange for a guilty plea.
