LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Police Department says three teenagers were behind a weekend carjacking and home invasion in Lexington.
Officers responded to a reported robbery at the Cook Out restaurant on South Broadway on Saturday around 4:20 a.m. According to police, a man told the officers he was sitting in his blue Chevrolet Camaro when two men approached, pointed a gun at him, and demanded the vehicle. The victim says he got out of the vehicle and the suspects drove away in the Camaro.
Then, around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, officers were called to a home on Golfview Drive for another reported robbery. Police say the victims told officers several men armed with handguns entered the home and demanded money. A witness says he saw several of them leave the area in three vehicles, one of which was a dark-colored Camaro.
An officer located the Camaro approximately two hours later and tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver took off. Police say the car eventually stopped on Jennifer Road and three teenagers inside were questioned. According to police, the teenagers, ages 14, 15 and 16, were charged with robbery, fleeing and evading and receiving stolen property.
