LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – With temperatures in Lexington early next week expected to be in the 90s and the heat index in the danger zone, the city’s Division of Waste Management will adjust its regular waste collection window.
Commercial pickups Monday through Wednesday will begin at 3 a.m., while residential pickups on Monday and Tuesday will start at 4 a.m.
There are no residential pickups on Wednesdays.
They say these times will reduce employees’ risk of heat-related injuries such as dehydration and other heat-related illnesses by finishing all routes before temperatures peak.
Waste carts should be placed on the curb the night before collection to ensure service.
