LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office is telling people not to fall for a phone scam involving its office.
According to the sheriff, someone claiming to be a Laurel County Sheriff’s deputy is calling people saying they failed to appear for jury duty and are being fined as a result. The phone number appearing on caller id is: (606) 913–4324 with extension 201, though the sheriff says other phone numbers may be used.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office wants people to know it does not conduct its business on the phone and all paperwork it serves is done in person by a uniformed deputy.
The office says people should not give out personal or financial information.
