LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A jury has convicted a Lexington man of a 2018 murder prosecutors say was over a $90 debt.
Prosecutors say 26-year-old Chase Helvey sent a photo of himself holding a gun with the words: ” The 1st two bullets have your name of them. You have 48 hours” to a woman he believed owned him money.
He lured the woman to his house on Maxwelton Court and severely beat her.
He then shot James Potter, the woman’s boyfriend, who was waiting in a car outside.
Potter died from his injuries.
Helvey is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
