MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Madison County Fiscal Court voted to approve a property tax increase to build a new detention center.
The final vote was 4-1 to pass the property tax increase.
But before that voted happened around 20 people stoop up giving their opinions and the majority of people were against it.
Residents in Madison County can file a petition but it has to be done in 45 days and have the right amount of signatures which will be around 3700.
If the petition passes the tax increase will go on the 2020 ballot.
If it does not, the property tax increase will go into effect in November.
