NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ)- Nicholasville Police officers say a boy has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries after he collided with a car on Miles Road while trying to cross the street Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the boy was riding a bicycle before 5 p.m, trying to meet up with a friend on the other side of the road. Officers say he was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the car is cooperating with investigators, according to police, and as part of that investigation the car is being towed.

One neighbor, Edward Coy said Miles Road is really congested because it runs parallel to Main Street.

He said as a father, he knows kids just want to get out and play, so drivers need to be diligent to look out on Miles Road.

“Pay more attention, because they’re not,” he said. “They’re more concerned with their friends, more concerned about having fun. And it doesn’t matter how many times you tell them they’re just going to continue to do it until hopefully somebody learns something.”
