LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A family is suing several Texas based companies including Enbridge, after the deadly gas pipeline explosion in Lincoln County.
58 year old Lisa Derringer lost her life during the explosion and her family has filed a lawsuit.
According to court documents, the family accused the companies of failing to properly inspect, maintain, and monitor its equipment. It continues to say companies failed to detect what was inadequate and not fit for use, and failed to warn of hazardous conditions.
The family’s attorney, Kyle Findley says they’re still recovering from the explosion that happened over a month ago.
According to Findley, they’re suing for wrongful death and gross negligence.
Findley adds they feel Enbridge failed to keep people safe and they want the company to take responsibility for it.
“It’s not something that just happens. It’s something that happens of result of years of neglect or years of ignored warnings and we have no doubt that those are the things that occurred here,” said Kyle Findley, Attorney.
Findley says Enbridge filed an answer to the lawsuit and denied everything.
ABC36 reached out to Enbridge. The company says it won’t comment on pending litigation.
