LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 9-year-old dog has made it. Callie the Toy Australian Shepherd is now on a billboard in the city. She beat out thousands of other dogs across the country in the ‘All-American’ Dog contest.

“Shock,” that’s how Joe Catt says he reacted to the news his dog Callie was selected as a winner.

“It was on Facebook and it was just a whim. I didn’t really think she had a chance to win with all the dogs that had been entered in the contest,” said Catt.

“We got tens of thousands of entries,” said Dallas Cheatham, with Early Times, which held the contest.

Cheatham says Callie was one of 10 selected across the country and quickly rose to the top, “She just has a really compassionate nature.”

“She’s spoiled rotten,” said Catt.

Rightfully so. Callie is now on a billboard at 248 Big Run Road in Lexington.

“To think that I own a dog that made it on a billboard,” laughed Catt.

And that’s not all. Callie also got an Early Times whiskey barrel dog house and a special page in the 2020 All American Dogs Calendar.

As for what’s next, Catt jokes, “Hollywood.”

The billboard will remain up through the month of September.

Early Times has other dog related contests and partnerships in charities. You can read more about them HERE.
