LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kristen LaRue was a teacher for seven years before she switched to real estate.
She said she knows how expensive it can get for teachers to supply their classrooms.
That’s why she and her fiance, the duo that makes K and D 007 realty team, said they decided to donate $250 out of their commission from each house they sell.
They choose a Fayette County Public Schools teacher at random each time.
Friday, Felicia Grundy received her check, the latest teacher to be drawn.
Mrs. Grundy is a third grade teacher at William Wells Brown Elementary.
She said she normally spends around $250 to supply her class each year.
Grundy said although the donation could go to supplementing that cost, she decided the money should go towards funding a special project for her students.
Although they don’t know it yet, the students will get to write and illustrate a book. Grundy said she will get the book published and give each student a copy to take home at the end of the year.
“I feel very blessed to have been chosen to receive this money, but I think that the real blessing will be when the children will be able to receive their book and see the labors of their work,” Grundy said.
Bond said he hopes they can donate to five more teachers by the end of 2019.
