LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The city opened a new art exhibit in downtown on Friday, celebrating the beauty of Fayette County’s native plants.
The Paint by Nature: Streetside Exhibit is set up in Lexington Public Library’s Central Branch and features more than 70 pieces of art.
It’s just a small part of Lexington’s Plant by Numbers program and the pieces depict native plants from 16 places throughout Fayette County.
Chrissie Tune, with the city of Lexington, said native plants are great for the environment for multiple reasons.
“We found within environmental services that sometimes people don’t understand all the benefits that come along with native plants. They attract pollinator so you get lots of bees and butterfly’s in your yard and they also help prevent runoff so that helps with stormwater,” Tune said.
If you want to check it out, it’s open to the public through November 10th.
