Car crashes into Lexington Police cruiser; DUI suspected


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- A car hit a Lexington Police cruiser with an officer inside Friday night, according to police.

Lieutenant Marcus Sell says the officer was on patrol, driving on Northside just before 9 pm when another car driving on Wayland Drive ran through a stop sign and hit the officer’s cruiser.

Police say the passenger in that car refused medical treatment, but the driver and the officer were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Lieutenant Sell says officers do suspect the car’s driver was intoxicated.
