Retired State Trooper killed in collision in Clay County


MANCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – A retired Kentucky State Trooper, who spent time as a member of the Executive Security Detail, was killed Tuesday afternoon in a collision on the Hal Rogers Parkway in Clay County, according to a social media post from Governor Matt Bevin.

State Police say 43-year old Donald Loren Holliday, of Hazard, lost control of his pickup truck while driving eastbound on the parkway, crossed the center line and collided with a commercial truck.

Investigators say Holliday died at Advent Health Hospital in Clay County.

The driver of the truck, 46-year old Eddie Stewart, of Manchester, was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to KSP.

Investigators say no drugs or alcohol are suspected as factors in the deadly collision.
