NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a man was fatally shot by an officer in Nicholasville Thursday morning.

State Police say officers with the Nicholasville Police Department were called to a domestic dispute at an apartment building on Beuford Place around 11:30 p.m.

They say during that time, the officers were confronted by an armed man and shots were fired.

Jessamine County coroner Michael Hughes says 27-year-old James Crowe was pronounced dead at around 1:11 a.m.

He died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Hughes.

ABC36 spoke with Crowe’s brother and he says this a shock. He says his brother was engaged and helped raised three kids.

“He was kind and loving person. He’d do anything for anyone. He didn’t deserve to be shot. He didn’t hurt no one,” said Greg Crowe, brother.

The family set up a Go Fund Me page to help pay for Crowe’s funeral.

Kentucky State Police are leading the investigation and say more information will be released later.
