LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington teen is recovering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
Police say it happened Saturday night and she was hit near Charles Young Park.
Police say the shooting happened around 9:25 p.m. There were two cars involved in the gunfire exchange on Warnock Street.
Sergeant Ronald Keaton said they always recommend for parents to encourage their kids to keep in contact with them, “Let them know where they are not just kind of disappear off into the city and kind of on their own. Pay attention to their surroundings, if they see something that doesn’t look right, you know, see something say something.”
Sergeant Keaton said they encourage parents to talk to their kids about dangerous situations where they end up around a group of people that are causing trouble. He said they should get out of the area and contact the police.
The victim was taken to the UK Hospital where she is expected to be okay.
Police say there are no suspects at this time but they are looking for a Black Dodge Charger that is possibly leaking radiator fluid.
