ASHLAND, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Ashland Police Department says a suspect in a shooting in West Virginia was arrested in Kentucky, but not before causing a school to go on lock down.
Officers responded to Central Park around 7:40 a.m. Thursday after getting a report that 28-year-old William Waddell III, of Ironton, Ohio, was in the area. They say Waddell was wanted out of Huntington, West Virginia for an August 11 shooting.
As a precaution, Crabbe School, which is located inside Central Park, went on lock down while officers searched for Waddell. They didn’t find him there, but patrols did locate him about an hour later near Clements Drive. Waddell was taken into custody. Police say he had a gun on him at the time of his arrest.
