BOURBON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A scare at Bourbon County Middle School Wednesday morning after a report of a gun at the school.
That report was later determined to be false, but not before police showed up at the school to investigate.
According to a school resource officer at Bourbon County Middle School, at around 9:30 a.m., a student reported another student had a gun. The officer says the school went into lock down while the student’s locker and belongings were checked. Once the lockdown was lifted, the school had a fire drill and, while all the students were outside, police and a K9 unit went through the school.
Police found no evidence of a gun and students were allowed to return to class.
The school resource officer says it was determined the student was lying. The student will face disciplinary action, according to the officer.
The officers say the student is facing multiple charges.
Bourbon County Schools started the new school year on August 9.
