Frankfort Police warning citizens of gas pump skimmers

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – According to the Frankfort Police Department gas pump skimmers have been located in Frankfort.

The Frankfort Police Department says if you must pay for gas at the pump and can’t pay with cash or inside the store follow these helpful tips.

  1. Chose a gas pump that is more visible from the store and/or video surveillance cameras if possible.
  2. Visually inspect the pump to make sure it has no obvious tampering or damage.
  3. Run you card as a credit card; if possible, do not use your pin number.
  4. Regularly check your bank statements, if you see a charge you did not authorize contact your local banking institution and law enforcement immediately.

There is a reward of up to $1,000 for any tips through Crime Stoppers that leads to the apprehension of suspects of a crime. You can call 502-875-8648 to report a crime and provide information.
