DANVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Federal officials investigating a gas line explosion in Lincoln County that killed one woman is asking anyone with video of the explosion to contact them.
Mike Hiller of the National Transportation Safety Board briefed reporters on Friday.
Hiller says officials are not speculating on what caused the gas line rupture that led to the explosion, but do not believe there was criminal intent involved.
The explosion early Thursday morning near Indian Camp Road in the Moreland community killed 58-year-old Lisa Derringer and injured six others.
Around 75 people were evacuated.
Hiller says they expect to let people whose homes were damaged or destroyed get to their property on Saturday to collect any belongings.
NTSB investigators are expected to be in Lincoln County for a week and the investigation could take 12-18 months, according to Hiller. He says the NTSB will be removing a section of the pipeline and taking it back to Washington, D.C. to be inspected. Officials are also inspecting the other two pipelines near the one that ruptured.
Hiller asks anyone with video of the explosion contact the NTSB at firstname.lastname@example.org.Hiller .
