Supply giveaway for out-of-work Blackjewel miners August 13

Coal miners who blocked train tracks in Kentucky demanding to get paid for the coal they mined will benefit from a federal deal with the bankrupt company.

HARLAN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Staff at the Christian Appalachian Project, in cooperation with other organizations, will giveaway free supplies to out-of-work Blackjewel coal miners on August 13 at the Harlan Convention Center.

The event is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Staff and volunteers say they plan to bring several tractor-trailers full of food, paper goods and household supplies for the miners’ families.

Blackjewel miners haven’t been paid since the company filed for bankruptcy July 1, 2019.
