The Macon County Coroner’s Office says the family of Linda Eirz has been found.
MACON, Ga. (WGXA) – Coroner Leon Jones tells WGXA that the victim was 66-year old Linda Eirz out of Lexington, KY.
Jones said he was able to contact a cousin who said that Eirz’s family wants nothing to do with her.
Jones told ABC 36 News he is hoping to be able to contact Eirz’s mother, but without any family coming to claim her, he will issue a court order for Eirz to be cremated.
Macon-Bibb coroner Leon Jones said authorities learned of a deceased woman in a car parked at a hotel in Macon.
Jones said the woman, a military member, appeared to have been deceased since July 20. He said she was found in a car that has Kentucky plates.
The coroner said the car was parked at the Haven Hotel on Holiday Dr. North, off of Riverside Dr.
A hotel worker found the woman and alerted the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of death hasn’t yet been determined. Jones said there’s no sign of foul play but added that the medication found with the woman wasn’t indicative of life-threatening issues.
Jones said the woman was in a very decomposed state. Her autopsy will be completed Monday morning.
