FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman who pleaded guilty of distributing a heroin mixture that caused an overdose death has been sentenced.
On Wednesday, a judge sentenced 32-year-old Kari Dawn Yount, of Shelbyville, to 21 years in federal prison.
According to prosecutors, a 22-year-old died in 2017 after overdosing on a mixture of heroin and acrylfentanyl sold by Yount.
Yount pleaded guilty on March 25, 2019 to selling the drug mixture to the victim.
Under federal law, Yount must serve 85 percent of her sentence.
