KSP: Man arrested for letting inmate escape


LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A road department worker is charged in connection to the escape of a Rockcastle County inmate.

Kentucky State Police reported 30-year-old Joseph Morris escaped custody while on work release on June 28.

Police say Morris ran off while mowing grass on Daughtery Ridge Road.

On Wednesday, state police announced 48-year-old Perry Mason, a Rockcastle County Road Department employee, was charged with official misconduct and facilitation to escape.

According to police, Mason was supervising Morris while he was on work release and escaped.

Morris was tracked down to an abandoned camper off Trace Branch Road in Rockcastle County on July 4 and arrested.

Joseph Morris, a Rockcastle County inmate, is accused of escaping last month.
