WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say one man was killed in a crash Sunday involving three vehicles.
State police say it happened around 1:13 p.m. on Interstate-75 near mile marker 2 in Whitley County.
According to police, 50-year-old Robert Sturtz, of Churubusco, Indiana, was traveling northbound when he rear-ended a car that stopped in heavy traffic.
That sent the car into a pickup truck.
The driver of the car, 38-year-old Adam Hyatt, of Frankfort, was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries.
Sturtz was taken to Baptist Health Corbin Hospital where he was treated and released.
According to the State Journal newspaper, Hyatt was a social studies teacher at Franklin County High School.
“Flyer Families it is with a heavy heart we share the news that Mr. Adam Hyatt has passed away,” the school posted on its Facebook page. “Mr. Hyatt was a part of FCHS for over 10 years and anyone who knew Mr. Hyatt knew this; Adam was a devout Christian, loved his family, his students, and FCHS. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
