Tube-A-Thon at Elkhorn Creek

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Several people disconnected from their phones and instead connected with the people tubing down Elkhorn Creek.

The ‘Totally Tubular Tube-A-Thon’ is a family friendly event that allows people to take lap after lap around the creek.

The organizer says they’re encouraging over a thousand tubers to unplug for a few hours and enjoy the two mile float.

“It’s just cool to see people floating, hanging out, and talking because so much of our world is digital and just to be analog for a few hours is awesome,” said Gerry James, organizer.

People can bring their own tubes or purchase one.

The organizer says they had just under 200 tubes available and sold out a week before the event.

“Oh it was a great day. We had a wonderful time,” said floaters.

This is the fourth annual tube-a-thon.
