MANCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will begin construction work in Laurel County. The KY 80 bridge over Hoophole Creek at milepoint 22.232 will be closed beginning Monday, June 17th, and is expected to re-open Thursday, July 18th.
The bridge closure is necessary due to bridge superstructure rehab operations. A signed detour will be in place via KY 1803.
The KY 80 bridge over Lick Fork Creek at milepoint 17.708 in Laurel County will also be closed beginning Monday, June 17th, and is expected to re-open Thursday, July 18th.
The bridge closure is necessary due to bridge repair operations. A signed detour will be in place via KY 1305 and Lick Fork Creek Road.
This bridge is part of the KYTC’s Transportation Cabinet’s Bridging Kentucky program. Bridges selected for the program include more than 1,000 state, county, and municipal structures that are rated in poor condition or have restricted weight limits.
Each bridge addressed by the program will either be replaced with a new structure designed to last at least 75 years, or rehabilitated to extend its life by at least 30 years.
As always, the date and time could be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
