Officers prepare for thousands of horsey hundred cyclists

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – More officers will be on the road in and around Scott County this weekend for the Horsey Hundred.

About 3,000 cyclists are expected to attend the event.

Officers are taking extra precautions for safety after a drunk driver hit and killed lawyer, Mark Hinkel who was a cyclists in 2015.

Police expect cyclists to be out early in the morning.

Georgetown police along with eight other agencies will be at every intersection of the course.

They are reminding everyone to share the road and to leave at least three feet between them and the cyclist.

Cyclists start their journey at Georgetown College and can travel anywhere from 25-100 miles.
