LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Gas line damage forced businesses to evacuate in Lexington’s Beaumont Centre Circle.
Columbia Gas says it was caused by a construction crew around noon. A Liquor Barn across the street and a pet store were forced to leave the property.
One businesses owner says he only had to turn his gas off for about thirty minutes. He didn’t hear anything, but noticed something was up when the crowd at his restaurant started dying down at the busiest time of the day.
“We do not here anything. But, no people were coming. You know, we see the road is empty, and we see they blocked the whole road. And we go look and we see gas leak and we smell very bad gas leak,” said Sam Sayyed, owner of Sahara Mediterranean Restaurant.
Mr. Sayyed adds while his business didn’t have to close like others, it still took a hit because there was no lunch hour traffic.
