LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- As water utilities across the nation observe Drinking Water Week, May 5 through May 11, Kentucky American Water announces that the 2018 Water Quality Reports for the company’s service areas are now available and indicate a continuation of high quality tap water delivered to customers.
The reports, published annually each spring with data pertaining to the previous calendar year, are available on Kentucky American Water’s website at www.kentuckyamwater.com via the Water Quality link and searchable by customer zip code.
The Water Quality Report is an annual performance measure of the quality of water supplied by Kentucky American Water against the compliance standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Kentucky’s Division of Water. Each report describes drinking water sources, water tests conducted, substances detected in water and the levels of those substances. Commonly asked questions and the associated answers concerning drinking water are also included. In addition to viewing reports online, customers may also request a hard copy by contacting the company’s customer service center at 1-800-678-6301.
Kentucky American Water’s team of water quality professionals perform thousands of tests every year – in the treatment plant as well as out in the distribution system – to measure the quality of tap water delivered to customers. These tests include those that are mandatory for all U.S. water utilities as well as additional tests that are conducted voluntarily to strive for water that not only meets but exceeds the standards required by law.
These additional tests stem from Kentucky American Water’s proud and voluntary participation in the national Partnership for Safe Water, an effort coordinated by six drinking water organizations, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the American Water Works Association. Partnership participants adhere to more stringent monitoring and testing practices and provide superior quality drinking water to consumers.
