He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The person on the car was taken to UK hospital and their condition is unknown.

Lewis was 18 and a senior at Mercer County high school.

“I am deeply saddened and heartbroken by the death of one of our seniors. He and another student were in a car wreck Saturday morning on their way to a National Guard Drill. The other student involved in the accident is in stable condition,” said Dennis Davis, Mercer County Schools Superintendent.

Davis says counselors will be available at the high school all week.
