LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Many of us are not cognizant of the health dangers when it comes to smoking, and sometimes you’ll hear people say, ” I Just Didn’t Know.”

The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky created: ” I Just Didn’t Know,” a campaign theme to help alleviate the e-cigarette and vaping epidemic affecting teens and adults in Kentucky.

The campaign theme reflects public service announcements featuring children across Kentucky sharing their insight about the dangers of vaping.

According to the foundation, vaping among teens has risen 78% among high school students, and 48% among middle school students in the past year.

They say one in five high school students, and one in 20 middle school students are now vaping.

The foundation also says that e-cigarettes contain dangerous levels of nicotine that harms the brain development of children, as well as carcinogens, heavy metals, and flavorings which cause cancer and lung damage.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says it’s very clear that e-cigarettes are not safe for children.
