NICHOLAS COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- KY 1658 (Persimmon Ridge Road) in Nicholas County will be closed during the day for the next several weeks for embankment and pavement repairs, according to the Transportation Cabinet.
Starting Monday, Kentucky Department of Highways District nine crews will be repairing several roadslide slip areas along 1658. The crews say they will start about three-tenths of a mile north of Stoney Creek Road and will work north along the highway to about a mile south of Goose Creek-Ishmael Chapel road.
The repairs will mean KY 1658 will be closed each day from about 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. where crews are working. The Transportation Cabinet says this will not affect school bus traffic, but all other drivers should follow warning and detour signs for the next two to three weeks.
Even when the road is not closed, drivers should still pay close attention because the road will be reduced to one lane with temporary signals around the 3 mile marker just north of Hollar Road.
The Transportation Cabinet says work could change depending on the weather. The Cabinet asks you follow warning signs, slow down in work zones, and look out for workers and construction equipment.
