ASHLAND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Six people were arrested after being accused of taking broken TV’s in new boxes to Walmart stores in Kentucky and Ohio in order to get cash on the return, according to the Boyd County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say they found a utility trailer full of broken television sets that the accused planned to use as part of the crime spree.
Investigators say the accused went to Walmart stores in Ashland, Cannonsburg and South Point, Ohio.
Deputies say they arrested Donnie Curtis, Michael Hunt, Amber Gibson, Theresa Townsend, all of Covington, along with Beverly Crawford and Daryl Bueter, both of Falmouth.
Investigators say the six were charged with theft and engaging in an organized crime/criminal syndicate for retail theft.
All six suspects were taken to the Boyd County Detention Center.
