Tussey says Kellwell Food Management has provided food service operations for the Madison County Detention Center since June 1, 2015.

The arrest comes less than a month after Madison County deputy jailer, Vanessa Tester, was charged with sodomy for an incident involving an inmate at the jail.

“This incident, along with other recent incidents involving inappropriate contact between staff/contract employees and inmates at the Madison County Detention Center reflects a culture that will not be tolerated under my administration,” Tussey said in a statement. “I commend the members of my staff whose great work led to information resulting in the successful completion of this investigation as well as their participation in other internal investigatory operations leading to the removal of bad actors from our facility. This commitment to following procedures outlined by the Department of Corrections and our unwavering pledge to be transparent with both law enforcement and the citizens of Madison County is one of many changes that will produce a more efficient and safer run facility.”

Kentucky State Police are investigating.

Tussey says his staff is cooperating fully with the investigation.
