LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Several people peacefully walked on the street near Duncan Park to honor and remember victims and survivors of gun violence.
Five years ago, Antonio Franklin Jr. was shot and killed in Duncan Park as an innocent bystander.
The VIP project honors the memory of victims like Antonio and this particular peace walk is named after him.
Antonio’s mother, Anita Franklin and other survivors shared their stories of gun violence and emphasized that we need change in our community.
“Although I am sad, in some ways today my soul is happy. I know that Antonio is o.k. and I know that his loss of life is healing many, many people,” said Anita Franklin.
There will be another peace walk in the summer.
