GARRARD COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The animal shelter in Garrard County says it’s overwhelmed after taking in almost 50 dogs since Friday.
It says most of them are puppies.
“We’re short staffed as it is. There’s only three employees, two part time, and I’m the only full time, so it’s real rough running twenty-four seven the way we do with as many dogs as we do,” said director Brittany Fain.
The shelter is now in desperate need of cleaning supplies, wet and dry food.
“We haven’t euthanized since 2016 and we’re going to do you best to hold that. As long as we keep dogs moving, that will not happen,” said Fain.
Fain also says this is a good example of why it’s so important to spay and neuter pets.
