LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – It was somber Sunday for UK fans after a loss against Auburn.
Lexington Police were prepared with about 250 officers plus UK police, the sheriff’s department, emergency responders, and other agencies.
Immediately after the game, crowds left State Street quickly.
Many students said they would be going home or grabbing a bite to eat.
“We still love the Cats. We do. We do. We got next year. Next year we’re winning it all,” said student.
“I’m feeling terrible. I mean you can’t be that mad. I mean, Elite 8 and then football we did great as well. So we had a great year athletically wise though. I’m not that mad but it still sucks,” said student.
“I’m depressed right now but we’ll be back next year and Keeneland season is coming up so we got that going for us,” said student.
Lexington police add if students continue festivities elsewhere, they should watch out for each other, find a sober ride, and be safe.
There was one couch fire, but police told our crews it was small and under control quickly.
Street cleaners came through State Street around 5:30 p.m.
