PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)– Three county bridges in Pike County failed routine inspections last week, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Two of those bridges are now closed.
KYTC says the Pike County Road Department mitigated the issues with the third so that it could remain open. The inspections were conducted by Highway District 12 officials.
The bridge over Caney Creel on Sarah Branham Way, and the bridge over Left Fork of Brushy, are now closed.
The bridge at Pigeonroost Road over Big Creek, off US 19 is still open. Officials say it had two failed beams, but it’s the only way in and out of the community there.
Engineers have created a temporary fix until a replacement can be built. The replacement beam is set to go to bid on May 24.
